International Museum Academy: Egypt 2018
Being effective in strategic planning supports the museum sector to anticipate problems and recognise opportunities, unite staff behind a clear direction, allocate scarce resources to agreed priorities and provide the evidence of the sector's commitment, vision and accountability.
So at HVM we are really pleased to be heading out to Cairo in April as part of the International Museum Academy Initiative developed by the British Council. We'll be working with Ministry of Antiquities staff and museum managers from around Egypt to:
- Develop capacities and skills to respond to identified needs, opportunities and challenges through effective strategic planning
- Encourage the development of new ways of thinking and working
- Showcase examples of best practice in the UK museum sector
- Create a network of leading museum professionals in Egypt who can support each other as they implement a strategic planning process.
Anita and Henrietta are now designing a mentoring programme which will be delivered in the latter part of April. We really look forward to working in co-production with the Cultural Skills Unit, British Council Egypt and museum professionals in the UK and Egypt to tailor an approach to strategic planning which inspires and encourages new thinking long in to the future.
