NHS England new statutory guidance - The value of public partnerships
Working in partnership with people and communities
The NHS recently published its new statutory guidance for integrated care boards, NHS trusts and foundation trusts and policy for NHS England. The guidance puts working with people and communities at the heart NHS England’s work. It particularly focuses on supporting organisations to build collaborative and meaningful partnerships that start with people and focus on what really matters to our communities.
At Hopkins Van Mil we believe that finding constructive ways forward for current and future challenges starts with collaboration and co-design. Particularly when it comes to running the public bodies that are central to our lives, like the NHS. This is the bed rock for all our work, for example the Foundations of Fairness public engagement programme (February 2020). Using a citizens’ jury and nationally representative survey, the programme found what people prioritise when they consider what constitutes a fair partnership between the NHS, researchers, charities and industry on the uses of NHS data. This insight is helping our commissioning partners, including NHS England, the Ada Lovelace Institute and the Office for Life Sciences, in their work and to better understand citizens’ values and attitudes.
As such, we welcome this new guidance and look forward to seeing how the 10 principles it sets out are fulfilled and bring positive change.
